Service has always been the thread running through my life. No matter what I have done, I wanted my work to matter and make a difference.
That started with a two-year mission for my church in Tijuana, Mexico. It was my first experience doing something like that, and I loved it. I learned the importance of meeting people where they are at and the value of connection. We played a lot of soccer there, and through a shared love, I was able to meet a lot of amazing people.
After college, that same desire to help people led me into law enforcement. To serve and to protect was a motto I valued and could really live by. It certainly wasn’t easy work, demanding fast judgment, a deeper understanding of the law, and the ability to walk into tense situations and de-escalate them.
At one point, I worked in the jail, which meant being surrounded by people often at their lowest point in life. I tried to help them see their potential. They weren’t always receptive, but if I could help someone see a glimmer of hope at such a difficult point in their lives, I knew it could be the difference between repeating their mistakes versus finding a new path when they got out.
After law enforcement, I spent more than a decade running my own construction and general contracting business: Keystone Solutions. Clients relied on me to solve problems, manage timelines, and deliver quality work. I learned how homes actually function, how codes evolve, and how quickly small oversights can turn into expensive issues. Running a business also meant owning the outcome—if something went wrong, it was on me to make it right.
I loved what I did and took pride in my work. But after 10 years, I knew my body couldn’t do this forever. That’s when I decided to get into real estate. At the same time, my wife and I had bought land and were building our barndominium. So I was learning in real time how stressful the buying and building process could be. It gave me insight right out of the gate on what kind of stress my clients might be under, and what is needed from me as a Realtor to help alleviate that.
Real estate brought together my understanding of the law, my knowledge of home construction, my ability to work with people in high-pressure situations, and most importantly, my passion for serving people. My goal is to empower my clients with information and guidance, so they can make confident decisions. It always comes down to the client and protecting their best interests.
That same mindset is what led me to open my own brokerage, Keystone Realty Co. The keystone is the final piece that holds an arch together, and that’s how I view the role of an agent: the person who keeps every element of the transaction together, ensuring its success. Owning this brokerage allows me to maintain that standard while also creating an environment for other agents that values competence, communication, and accountability. It is a brokerage designed for agents, encouraging them to grow their own business.
Each chapter of my life has offered lessons that have now come full circle. You just have to trust the journey, know there’s a lesson in every experience, and stay open to where it leads you.
At the center of everything is my faith and my family. With every new chapter, it was my faith that gave me the confidence to keep going. And my wife and four sons are the motivation behind building my brokerage to be a trusted name in our community because it creates a legacy they can be proud of and maybe even join one day.
As a Colorado native, I take full advantage of the outdoor lifestyle here, rock climbing, hiking, camping with our boys, and climbing 14ers when I get the chance. I also play soccer a lot, and because we live out in the country, we are always busy taking care of our land and animals.
As a Realtor, I believe my job is to offer the most value possible for my clients, making sure you’re protected, informed, and confident every step of the way. That’s why I keep my general contractor license active and stay up to date on changing building codes and legal requirements. My hands-on experience means I can spot real issues during walkthroughs, explain what repairs or renovations will entail, and fully understand and explain contracts so there are no surprises.
I also help clients think beyond just the deal in front of them, considering how each decision fits into their plans for the next five or ten years. I stay in close touch throughout the process, keeping you informed, returning calls, and making sure you always know what’s happening and what’s next. Whether you’re a first-time buyer, a family going through a big transition, or someone planning long-term investments, my goal is to make this a positive, informative experience where you feel supported and confident in every decision. At the end of the day, it’s all about protecting your best interests.
Sincerely,

Scott Austin
